Nashville Community Donation Partners

In our never ending quest to declutter our homes, we often come across items that are no longer serving us, or perhaps never did.  If you have checked out our Ultimate Guide to Organizing Your Home or our Decluttering Guide you will remember one of our recs is to keep a donation bin or basket in your house to collect items you run into over time that you are ready to part with. What to do with these items?!

At Type A, we recognize the importance of giving back to our local community and we make it a priority to support local nonprofits that are truly the hands and feet of giving back to our neighbors of Nashville. Although there is of course nothing wrong with dropping off at some of the larger donation center options, it has been a core mission of Type A to give back to the city we love so dearly in any way we can. We have been asked time and time again about where we bring our large donation hauls to that you see on the gram! So here’s just a couple of the countless organizations giving back to our city that we would love to share with you.

Each community partner is a little different in their requests and needs- so be sure to visit the links for their specific requests. If there is a new partner you think should be on this list- reach out to us! We love working with local organizations and are always looking for ways to connect with more.

GraceWorks Ministries was established 1995 by a group of concerned Williamson County citizens and faith leaders who sought a comprehensive, collaborative solution to the complex issue of poverty. Their founders recognized that local low-income residents had diverse needs – food, clothing, housing support, and financial assistance – yet, most area nonprofits and churches focused on only one or two services. By pooling church resources with private and public sectors, GraceWorks has been able to offer wraparound services to a large number of individuals and families in need, closing their most recent fiscal year having served 13,517 unduplicated Neighbors.

GraceWorks offers free pickup in Williamson County for large donations of furniture and large appliances. They do not offer pickup for clothing or housewares at this time.

FAQ about the process.

We personally use this company a lot with clients because of the ease of getting rid of large quantities in a wide range of categories and their absolute professionalism. Whether it's appliances, furniture, construction materials, or clothing, Junkdrop takes basically anything. They do everything in their power to haul your reusable material to those who need it and the not so reusable to where it needs to go.

JunkDrop will remove all of the items you don’t want anymore and haul them back to their warehouse. There, they sort the items between reusable and non-reusable. The non-reusable items will be hauled off similar a traditional junk removal service where they recycle, or dispose of things properly. The reusable items that they pay to store, deliver and then set up for underprivileged Nashvillians inside their home. Junkdrop finds these recipients through the organizations that they partner with closely. One really incredible thing about this small business is their social media presence! You can follow them along on Instagram to see who they bless with your unwanted items, especially furniture as they work to furnish homes for the unhoused of Nashville.
